ABOUT EVERYDAY SOLACE

Everyday Solace strengthens families and empowers communities to grow from loss and adversity.

Everyday Solace Founder

My name is Shinita Kimbrough-Reddick

Shinita Kimbrough-Reddick was instructing “Seniors and Technology” classes at a public library in Jacksonville, FL, as well as working with the Duval County Public Schools during the early-2010s. Sadly, her mother passed away after a lengthy illness leaving her with a lot of complicated emotions. Not giving herself plenty of time to grieve and process her feelings, she experienced prolonged feelings of sadness and hopelessness. Eventually, Shinita discovered steps she could take to better cope with her new situation, ease the stress and mental anguish that often accompany the loss of a loved one, and find a way to navigate this challenging new journey.

In 2019, three years after her mother’s death, Shinita formed Everyday Solace, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with its grief support mission to provide online support around the clock and allow individuals who may feel isolated, stigmatized, or unable to attend in-person meetings an opportunity to reach outside their immediate communities for help. That same year, Shinita published a grief book called Brokenhearted Disciple: Confessions for Overcoming. She also used the traumatic loss of her mother as a catalyst to educate and spread awareness of mental health within her community.

Everyday Solace online resources build resilience in individuals, strengthens families, and empowers communities to grow from loss and adversity.
